Hobnail Album

Project 2015-06-01 18:30:15 +1200

Hobnail is turning 21 this year, and is close to completion of their 6th studio album. The album features songs from their entire career - some old favourites that deserved to be re-recorded, some new songs, and some cover versions that they have made their own but have never recorded. This is the album that many fans have been asking them to make for years.

They just need a little help with costs for mixing, mastering, and manufacturing the album.

And a photo shoot. We've been using these old photos for years now. Not that we've aged at all.....

Songs include: Haunted, Where The Wild Things Are, Goodnight, String Things, Like A Hurricane, Rattlin' Bones, Pot Of Gold and more.

A Little History....

Hobnail (then Hobnail Boots) started life in 1994. Initially a trio, they soon expanded to a 5 piece, and have expanded and contracted regularly over the years. Rob Joass (vocals and guitar) and Jo Moir (vocals and violin) have been the mainstays from the beginning, with multi instrumentalist Hamish Graham joining not long after. Caroline Easther (drums and backing vocals) has been with the band for so long that nobody can remember exactly when she joined. Guests on this album include previous collaborators Wayne Mason (piano) and Alan Norman (accordian) as well as new friends Kim Bonnington (vocals) and Dusty Burnell (mandolin).

Hobnail performs regularly all over New Zealand. They have appeared on Friday Live on National Radio several times, and have previously been finalists for Best Folk Album and Best Country Song at the New Zealand Music Awards.

"String Things" is YOUR album, thank you!

03/07/2015 at 1:38 PM

Whew that was a fun last couple of hours! It makes the efforts of Rob, Jo, Hamish & Caroline all worthwhile. The albums are being pressed & printed as we speak, they are sounding (and looking) lovely. A wonderful way to celebrate our 21 years together.

Next we need to get your rewards out to you all...but there's no time for rest! We have a South Island Tour starting next Thursday 9 July with dates in Blenheim, Nelson, Balcairn and Christchurch. There are more gigs to follow in the Manawatu, Greytown, an appearance on Radio NZ AND our album release party right here in Wellington 29 August.

We look forward to seeing you out on the road and sharing this album with you. A heartfelt thanks once again.

Less than a week left and we're very grateful!

Just a quick thanks to everyone who is helping us to push this through, either by pledging or sharing the info on Facebook. We're hoping to have the album completed early next week, there aren't enough hours in the day.

Really looking forward to a cuppa and lie in when it's done, right before we head out on the road, starting off in the South Island.

Cheers again all!

Rob
