                                  THE STORY

It's December 31st 1999... the countdown has begun!

Nita is a young Kiwi-Indian woman with a secret. A secret so riveting and dishonorable that even Chloe her best friend must expel her completely . . . With nowhere to go except home to her traditional (yet quirky) parents, Nita hitches a ride with a mysterious Indian couple. An encounter that makes Nita realize that life is too short for secrets and regrets!

Set in the heart of global fever Y2K is an amazeball dark comedy about people confronting their fears.

Writer & Director

Rina Patel is a proud second generation Gujarati Kiwi pursuing a MA degree in Film, Television and Media studies at the University of Auckland. Rina is currently working her ass off to make Y2K so please give generously so Rina can pass her practical assessment and graduate with an MA degree... no pressure...

Rina is one of the few Asian students to pursue a Masters degree in film through the University of Auckland. Proudly, she was the first woman of Indian Gujarati descent to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Toi Whakaari, the National Drama School of New Zealand.
