Native Trees For Ngatiawa River Monastery!

Project 2015-04-27 16:46:02 +1200

Ngatiawa River Monastery needs $2300 funding to help buy native seedlings to beautify the hill around our Prayer hut, to inspire retreatants and keep our hill from falling away! Money will also buy some organic fertiliser, and help pay for the fencing to keep sheep off the plants.

It's a bit of a big project, as the trees will need to be planted in a few goes, and tended to over the months but we are super keen to get it started!

The area of triangle ish shaped land is approx 1145 square metres, and we're hoping to get 500 baby plants in the ground. Gemma and Gigi are heading up the project, but it will be a Ngatiawa team effort to get this piece of land looking epic!

Gus Evans a local Waikanae nursery who ecosources plants from the Kapiti area will deliver bulk plants for free!

Once we've got the money, we'll buy the first lot of trees and need help to do the planting.

Saturday 23 May at 9.30am is our first planting day, so bring your gumboots! x
