About

Get Holly To The U23 World Rowing Championships

Project 2015-04-06 12:09:45 +1200

Hey everyone! My name is Holly Fletcher and I have recently been selected into the 2015 New Zealand U23 rowing team which has been an exciting development in my rowing this year.

I have been rowing for 6 years and over this time I have competed at the following regattas;

Maadi Cup for St Margarets College (2010 and 2011)

  • 2nd in the Novice Four (2010)
  • During this time I also was selected into the South Island U18 team in 2011

National Club Rowing champs for Avon Rowing Club (2012 and 2013) and Southern RPC (2014 and 2015)

  • 1st in the club 8+, 2nd in the Senior 8+ and 3rd in the club 4+ (2012)
  • 1st in the club 4+, 2nd in the senior 4- and 8+ and 3rd in the club 8+ (2013)
  • 1st in the U22 8+, 4th in the U20 2- (2014)
  • 1st in the U22 2-, U22 4- and Premier 8+ and 3rd in the Premier 4- (2015)

I have also rowed for the University of Otago in which I have been a part of the womens 8+ which has been undefeated at the University Champs for 9 years and is also undefeted at the International University regatta in China. Whilst at university I was a part of the 'Pathway to Podium' programme which was aimed at developing uncarded athletes for their future in high performance sport.

Regaining selection into the Southern Regional Performance Centre in September 2014 for the 2nd year and beginning fulltime training from there on was the start of what would turn out to be my most successful season yet all my results.

Following my results from this season from both in and out of the boat this summer I gained a NZ U23 trial and from there was selected into the U23 coxless four to compete in Bulgaria at the World U23 rowing chamionships.

For the duration of this campaign I am required to relocate to train at Lake Karapiro until we leave for Europe at the beginning of July. However as I am still an U23 athlete I am required to raise $7500 for the athlete contribution to the tour as well as approximately $3000 to cover living costs whilst relocating and living in Cambridge to train with my crew.

With your help I will be able to realise my dream of becoming a New Zealand rower and hopefully this campaign will help to push me in the direction of becoming an elite rower.

Thanks for giving this a read and for taking the time to support me and my dream,

Holly
