Last year we ran a very successful unconference in NZ called UnfurlingHR. This year we're doing it again in New Zealand and we would love to involve our Aussie colleagues and bring the unconference to Australia!

So, we've got a date in the calender of the 20th of May, we’ve penciled in a venue (Colin Paden Powell Scout Camp, Pennet Hills, Sydney) and we need your help to make it happen.  

We all need to be leaders and we need to band together to do this.

The Leading People unconference is about helping every person who has people at the heart and soul of their profession become a leader.  Leading People is about bringing people together to better equip ourselves for the changing the world of work. You can read more about why we chose the theme Leading People here. Whether you categorise yourself as HR, L&D, OD, recruitment, a manager, a leader, whatever, this is your conversation.

A conversation is more than just one event. Yes, you pledge to this event. But we're also experimenting with different techniques. Making this event not a normal conference or a normal unconference. You see, this is not just about the event it's about all the conversations and actions pre and post the event, the idea formation, the action planning and the implementation. How many times have you attended a conference / unconference / workshop / training event, got some great ideas and then not done anything with them? We're looking for that holy grail and we'd like to do this with you. Because stepping up to lead means stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something different, it means leading together. 

Which means that this event is very much shaped by you; you'll get more out of it the more you put into it. There is no push learning here, there are no pre-defined speakers. We work together using digital technolgoy to shape a rough agenda, then we nut things out on the day, we split into groups to work on topics that interest us and bring them to life, together. We all are the leaders on this day, we all take individual accountability and action. This event is just part of the scaffolding to help you shine.  

It will be alot of fun to boot. There'll be great food, music, an outdoors space for you to play in and stretch your legs and your mind, end of day drinks, amazing people, cool t-shirts, connections formed IRL and digitally. Plus the opportunity pre and post the event to attend great workshops and digital conversations with thought leaders from all around the world.
