Help us drive growth in the local MMA scene!
MMA has been widely cited as the world’s fastest growing sport - and with the spread of the UFC, it's easy to see why. Our project is to obtain an ex-tour coach (bus), to be collaboratively operated by CORE MMA & Full Force Fight Co. to develop & promote the regional mixed martial arts scene.
CORE MMA: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournaments
For the last 5 years, the CORE MMA team have been actively travelling, competing & coaching - in an attempt to build a stronger representation of the Waikato Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skill on the regional, national and world stage (including taking medals at the Pan-Pacific Championships in Melbourne and the Gracie Worlds in LA). However it has now reached a point where one of the biggest drawbacks we face is the lack of infrastructure & support for the team - and our numbers at national competitions are severely misrepresentative of what is being achieved in the Waikato region. So please help us increase the number of MMA supporters & BJJ competitors that can travel from Hamilton to make noise on the big stage - because as the team continues to grow we will surely need it!
CORE MMA plans to use the vehicle to transport the local MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teams up to Auckland to compete on a regular basis. Last year the team broke the Hamilton record for BJJ competitors at an event, getting well in excess of 20 fighters (including Youth participants) on the mats as well as coaches and spectators. However, the high event entry ($50-60) + transport costs means that the region is under-represented at the Auckland & National level competitions - where competitor numbers, coupled with medal hauls, are often used to determine the most successful schools in the country.
FULL FORCE: Auckland MMA Fight Shows
Full Force Fight Co. would like to enable Hamilton MMA fans & spectators the chance to be involved at a regional level. They plan to organise an annual season tour, bringing additional out-of-town spectators to Auckland based promotions such as Shuriken NZ and Princesses of Pain. By consolidating Hamilton fans into an organised tour group, Full Force can reduce transport costs & emissions and increase safety by reducing the number of drivers on the road (especially if they may be consuming alcohol at the events). Not only does this offer an appealing alternative for Hamilton based spectators, but will help increase the reach & revenue streams of these key regional promotions - which in turn has a positive flow-on effect for local competitors & gyms
What do we need to make it happen?
The acquisition of the bus is likely to cost around $30,000. CORE MMA & Full Force will be jointly responsible for driver training, licensing and vehicle maintenance.
