Help Splice Get A Paid Volunteer

Project 2014-06-16 22:52:47 +1200

Hi friends, family, and strangers (or new friends!),

Many of you have been really interested in what I've been up to this year; juggling the life of a wedding celebrant, community volunteer, craft market organiser, poetry co-ordinator, and writer for PIKDAT.

I'd love to be doing more volunteering with Splice, a community development group in the city centre of Auckland.  At the moment this work is unpaid.  We are hoping for funding to come from individuals or the council, but in the mean time I'd like to allow anyone to donate to the work of Splice in the form of a paycheque.  Essentially the funding would just be for me so I wouldn't have to work other (boring!) jobs while investing in this.  It could be that funding is right around the corner, but a concentrated effort on Splice right now is sure to encourage this.

Splice is focused on the residents of Auckland CBD and creating projects, workshops and connections to bring people together across all societal divides.  We have projects in the works for poetry, sewing, craft, community engagement and generosity, busking, quiet spaces in town, combatting homelessness, connections with the prostitutes collective and the transgender community, and more.  We are focused on all residents with particular emphasis on young people, and migrants.

If you're interested and would like to sponsor this great work, then feel free to make a pledge, and share this page around!

I promise potentially hilarious and definitely interesting newsletters for those interested in updates of Splice's work.
