Saving Lives With A Songs
Imagine if you could sing a song and that song saved someone's life.
That's what I do and you can do it with me.

Unimaginable suffering.
Hi I'm Rob Greaney and I've been writing and performing songs since I was a kid.  Since 1992 I've lived and worked in countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, Nepal and Indonesia.  Through my travels I've witnessed poverty and suffering on a scale hard to imagine, needless to say I've come to appreciate how very fortunate we are here in New Zealand.

My unique gift.
To combat this suffering I began to write health songs. A health song is a simple and succinct message about a health concern put to music.
I started with things I knew would make a difference like hand washing and how to quit smoking, living with HIV, preventing dengue fever and how to rehydrate babies suffering with diarrhoea.  Through my years of experience I've developed a technique for writing songs in any language, in any style, on any topic and for any audience.

Saving lives with a song.
In 2002 I started an organization called Health Songs International and I have been connecting with songwriters from around the world who want to use their skills, just like me, to help save lives and relieve suffering.

Typhoon Haiyan response
In November 2013 I started a Health Songs International team in Oamaru and we began writing songs about how to make water safe for drinking for the typhoon Haiyan survivors to prevent sickness and the spread of disease.  These songs in the Tagalog language have been submitted for use to over 100 international NGOs working in the disaster zone.  Our first song was written, recorded and being broadcast on emergency radio within 72 hours of the disaster.

We need to take the lead
If you’ve ever sat around waiting for an important call you’ll know the sort of anxiety we’ve been feeling.  Whilst we’ve been working very hard to promote our service we’ve essentially been relying on the relief and development agencies to call us then tell us where to work, when to go and what songs to write when we get there.  This is not a good model for us and we want to be able to take the lead using our considerable experience and awareness of global health problems, using our own money and helping ordinary people enjoy healthy and productive lives.

Crowd funding to save lives
Many people have asked us how they can get involved with Health Songs International.  This has led us to conclude that our own dedicated crowd funding site would provide a way for anyone, anywhere to make a difference and this is why we’re asking pledegme to help.

Costs for our new website

We're going to employ Christchurch based website company WebMad to create the site for.
Features will include payment facilities, blogging options, a profile page for communities in need and the songs required, play buttons with completed songs, full social media connectivity, funding graphics and a song library. We’ll continue to use our original branding so we won’t be hard to recognize.

We’d be thrilled if you’d help us and in doing so you would Saving Lives With A Song.
Thank you
Rob
