Rosie Volunteer Trip

My name is Rosie Bennett and I am a Registered Nurse, I have just commenced by fourth year of nursing. My inspiration to volunteer developed after travelling to Thailand and Cambodia with my friends last year. We chatted with many young people volunteering within local orphanages and schools and visited the local Children’s hospital to donate blood.
At the beginning of April I will commence 2 weeks volunteering at a local orphanage in Hanoi, Vietnam with International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ). Although Vietnam has been at peace for many years, the effects of the Vietnam War are still present. Agent orange was a powerful mixture of chemical defoliants used during the war and had had a great impact of health throughout Vietnam resulting in a high incidence of birth defects and medication conditions.
I have funded the trip myself and covered my fees for my volunteer placements, vaccinations and flights. However, I would like to raise some money to support the local orphanages to improve conditions and to buy equipment required for the children.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped me to reach by goal of $200 and exceed this.
I leave for Vietnam this evening and I can't believe how quickly this has snuck up on me. I'm excited and a little nervous at the same time!
