2014 is a time for new beginnings and challenges for us here at Sharp Focus Photography, with the first move being heading to the Bay of Plenty to live.
The 2nd is.. I'd love to get into aerial photography, both stills and video. I do love a challenge and I won't lie NEW toys ;) Who does not love new toys?
Sharp Focus Photography was established in 2011 after identifying my true passion for photography.
In 2012 I attended CPIT to gain more photographic knowledge and obtained my Diploma in Photographic Imaging. In the same year I entered images in the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers Iris Awards in which I gained a Bronze Award.
I have subsequently been published in a variety of New Zealand publications including:
• The Christchurch Star
• DPhoto Magazine
• The Waimea Weekly (Nelson)
• Ignition Magazine (CPIT’s creative industries magazine)
• Plus others
Most recently I had an exhibition on display at Parliament House, showcasing images surrounding the affects of Chron’s disease. This exhibition was covered in many publications, including the Christchurch Press and New Zealand Doctors Magazine. In February 2014 I was flown to Sydney Australia where my images were on video display at a pharmaceutical conference.
I am now expanding my photographic services and extending the offer to select local businesses to provide professional commercial images, at a very competitive rate. and I strongly feel that a range of applications can be achieved at an affordable price with the use of a Quadcopters as apposed to a Helicopter.
I have covered many events in Christchurch from Fight for Christchurch 2013 to the Wine and Food Festival. I also have covered some charity events which includes and not limited to Special Childrens Christmas Party 2013 and also the Breast Cancer Research Trust Fashion show. I also spent 3 months documenting the demolition of Cholmondey Home, due to earthquake damage. In 2014 I will be documenting the rebuild also, it would be great to be able to have an aerial view of this process also.
As I continue to expand this field the options for ariel work will also expand, from Real estate photography, to adding that special touch to any comany profile video or even stills.
Q. How can I make aerial photography affordable for your "average" person??
A. A Phantom 2 with attached Go-Pro. At a cost of approximately $2300 once off, compared to upto $1000 per hour for a chopper and crew... The Phantom would be (in the long run) a cheaper option for the consumer.
Q. What services would you offer with this set-up?
A. ANYTHING the client requests, Within reason and safety restrictions and flying abilities. I would offer my services to the general public, Local councils for land survey etc, Event coverage, Tourist type stills and videos...
If you have further questions please feel free to contact me [email protected]
Equipment needed:
1x HERO3+ Black Edition
1x DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter with Zenmuse H3-2D Gimbal and Transmitter
