My new record, Forget the Past is the best thing I've ever done. Help me get it out on CD.
Hi, yes, funny I know - raising money for an album called Forget the Past on CD, but that's what we're doing and here's why. I've talked to many fans and all of them have expressed interest in having my new record on one of those shiny aluminium discs. I know what they mean too, Cds are a souvenir, a marker - you might rip it into iTunes and put it on the shelf - but it's more than just a musical delivery device - it'll have great photos, it's collectable (only 300 will be pressed), it sounds fantastic and means you care more than just a little about the music inside.
Click here to listen to a stream of the lead track Nobody.
And about the music - Forget the Past has 11 tracks spanning subjects as far afield as New Mexico, jaywalking, the working poor, and a song inspired by a conversation with a traveller who told me they'd been dodging winters for years. Where's the fun in that? There's also a couple of moody - I'm walking into the desert sunset heartbreakers - but most excitingly for myself there's also a handful of pop songs. I love pop songs! And - I think - this time out I managed to write some. It's produced wonderfully by Wayne Bell (pictured above) and was recorded in December at The LAB, and features long-time guitarist John Segovia and an all new four-piece band.
So here's the deal - we have this, what we think is a very special, finished 11 track album ready to release on the 28th March. It'll be on iTunes and the usual streaming services but if you want it on CD we need your help. We're not asking for charity - pledge $20 and you'll get a signed copy of the CD as soon as it arrives from the pressing plant. Check out the other great rewards on offer too.
The cost of printing and manufacturing the cd is around $1,300, we've deliberately kept our target modest but hope to raise the full amount. Any money over $1,300 will go towards touring and promotion.
We appreciate any pledge you can give, large or small!
