About

Utu Pihikete - A Truly Kiwi Short Film.

Project 2013-10-11 03:46:04 +1300

“UTU PIHIKETE” – written by April Phillips and directed by Craig Hutchison.

Through a young orphan girl, a dispassionate and parochial couple learn the true meaning of family and belonging.

The makers of the moving and inspiring film “Letter For Hope” are back to create another exquisite story, but we need you’re your help.  We’re telling a truly Kiwi story but it’s an historic drama set in 1841 and so our wardrobe and art department have the exciting (and challenging) task of re-creating colonial New Zealand on a budget!

We have an incredibly talented and distinguished cast and crew led by director and producer, Craig Hutchison of Cas’n’Ova Productions and a truly emotional story by acclaimed writer April Phillips.  We have secured some fabulous locations including the historic Colonial Cottage in Wellington.  Now we need your help to bring it all to life.

Our fabulous costume designer Cara Louise will be making our Victorian costumes for both the adult and child actors.  Elaborate day and night wear with everything from petticoats to bonnets.  She will have to source authentic looking footwear, and she’ll also be creating traditional Maori clothing for the children.

Our dedicated Art Department designer Theo Winjsma will be sourcing objects and props appropriate for a New Zealand 19th century cottage.

We have set these folk a challenge we know they’re up for, but some extra dollars would help the cause!!

Please visit our website www.utupihikete.com to see more information about our story and our incredible cast and crew.  We shoot the film in November and we’re offering some fabulous rewards in return for your very kind and generous pledges!!!  Thank you!
