About

Future Favourite Teacher!

Project 2013-08-21 05:00:33 +1200

My name is Emma-leigh and I dream of becoming a high school teacher that my students will remember for life - little did I know how expensive it can be to study without any help! Never the less I am not going to give up.

I am going to study a double major in History and English, minoring in anthropology and sociology, beginning 2014. This will take me 3 years, and I will be studying at the University of Canterbury. After I have competed my Bachelor of Arts, I will do the one year of study to make me a qualified high school teacher! Woo hoo! Dream half way complete but the kids need to like me too!

But I do need some help! With my parents living in Australia (running away from the horrible shakes in CHCH) and having to use any money they earn to help themselves, I've been forced to flat - which is not cheap! I've set my self up with pots and pans, a bed and all the bare essentials after working extremely hard for a year, with 4 jobs I've said goodbye to my social life and hello to smelling like coffee grinds, paper cuts, 2am finishes and have become extremely aware of everything Avon has to sell. Cheeky advert - I am an Avon representative so if you're after some new make, perfume or house products then CONTACT ME! New customers means more savings!

As of Feb 2014 I need to be able to study full time - if you have even done a double major you will understand - therefore I need to cut back on my work load. But how will I pay my rent without running myself into the ground? I don't know! I've managed to earn myself a $1000 scholarship but I need a laptop for my studies, so am planning on using my scholarship to fund that. My $5152 per year course costs can go on my student loan if I have no other option but I dread to think about being in that much debt! I can borrow another $1000 to help pay for my books, but that still leaves me homeless, unfed and without gas to get to work or university AND with a gigantic student loan!

What I am hoping the people of New Zealand will be able to help me with is raising $800-1000 to pay for my necessities for my first year! No fun nights for me just some books, some pens, a roof over my head plus enough gas in my car to get me where I need to go. In return I am willing to help tutor anyone, young or old, in English, History, Social Studies, Classical Studies or if another subject is needed I can try my very best! I was awarded merit endorsements throughout NCEA and am extremely keen to help others get the best possible marks at school and maybe even their own scholarship. I was awarded the highest marks in speeches and creative writing at school and would be a great help to those currently sitting NCEA. I will be happy to do private lessons through Skype for those anywhere in New Zealand, or I can meet with those in Christchurch if preferred.

I would be so grateful to anyone who helps me to complete my dream of being the favourite teacher of many of the students that I will teach in the future! Do you remember yours?
