“Dreams of a Desolate Mind”
Memory is a complex yet mesmerizing concept that demands a need for visual exploration. It is my intention to investigate this in the form of an installation, proposed for exhibition at a local Wellington gallery.

Update: Thank you to everyone who has pledged so far! I am so close to my goal! There's still over a month to go however and ultimately I need $680 minimum to execute this project so please keep pledging! Every donation counts! :)

Update: Below is some of the art I have been working on! Using light sensitive chemicals, I have been exposing vintage linen to negatives which talk about psychology and photography's relationship with memory. In particular, they mimic ideas created through the Rorschach psychology ink blot tests which evoke distinct imagery dependant on the viewers life experiences.

About Me:
My name is Danielle Arts and I’m currently in my 3rd year at Massey University in Wellington, studying a Bachelor of Design (Hons), majoring in Photographic Design. The majority of my work is constructed around unleashing new ways of seeing that allow the audience to alter the way in which they perceive meaning presented in the piece.

The Concept:
I aim to capture the essence of the unconscious mind; disrupting the boundary between public and private to create window into forgotten moments. In collaboration with psychology student Elyse Cullen, I will visually explore the science of issues pertaining to the recollection of memory such as the misinformation effect, involuntary memory and semantic associations. The proposed exhibition will investigate these ideas in an interpretative nature that calls on aspects of performance art; presenting the audience with the opportunity to become part of the work and ultimately shape its outcome.

Where You Come In:
I have great vision for this project however I cannot achieve it without your help! I have already put a significant amount of my own money into this project however on a student budget, it is not possible for me to fulfil this to the extent that I envisage it. Your money will be going towards vital material costs and exhibition and display fees.

I hope that you can become part of my vision, every pledge is very much appreciated :)

Almost there!

Thanks to everyone who has pledged so far, I cannot believe your generosity and I am completely overwhelmed by the response this project has had!

I have been doing immense research and explorations and the time has finally come recently to start actually making the work! I am now a lot clearer on my creative vision and have updated the project with a bit more information of what I've been doing and a few pictures to give you an idea.

I seriously cannot believe how much of a success this has been and I only hope that you will continue to support me as I make this all happen.

Thanks again you lovely people,
