Plains

Project 2013-07-19 02:24:07 +1200

The Remote Fiction Theatre proudly presents Plains, written by Wellington playwright Harry Meech (recipient of the 2009 Playmarket Young Playwright's Award). Plains is being performed as part of the 2013 Hamilton Fringe Festival.

Set in a soon-to-be-apocalyptic near future, Plains is dark, wry, cynical and often simply absurd. Trace the path of the morally questionable Satchel and the six other survivors of the beginning-of-the-end as they prepare for the end-of-the-end. Whilst Plains subject material is of genuine depth and weight, it manages to maintain a levity that brings a soft, chuckle-worthy humour to even its darkest moments. Harry juxtaposes horror and hilarity with a disarming sense of sincerity (and perhaps a hint of mischief) to create a piece of theatre that will continue to resonate with its audience as they mentally unravel the multiplicity of layers that make up its narrative.

The actors of the Remote Fiction Theatre have all taken part in a disciplined system of Dynamic Conditioning that provides them with tools by which to extend their capacity for non-cliche and dynamic physical performance. Through this system, devised around continual development and experimentation as individuals and as a group, our actors challenge their understanding of the personal and inter-personal principles of physical and vocal performance practice.

We have a production team working hard to put this show together on a minimal budget but we still need to pay for costume fabric and construction, lighting and sound hire, set construction and marketing and publicity costs. Your contribution will help us make sure this fantastic piece of theatre can be enjoyed by your friends, family, work mates and neighbours.

The performance dates are:

Friday 27th September 8.00pm

Saturday 28th September 8.00pm

Thursday 3rd October 8.00pm

Friday 4th October 8.00pm

Saturday 5th October 8.00pm
