Inspired people, new ideas, innovation and exciting performance are the lifeblood of theatre practice in Aotearoa New Zealand. BATS Theatre’s Purpose/Kaupapa is to provide a supportive, professional and accessible theatre venue that fosters the development of practitioners, audiences and New Zealand performance work.
Using the 1960's hits and true story of Wellington's own pop sensation Rochelle Vinsen, Cake Punchers Collective will create a high paced musical journey through the beginnings of the Pop influence on New Zealand's culture and it's relevance today. We will invite you into a world pinned on big dreams and small realities, originality and imitation, love and loneliness and the facade of fame. A world filled with bright lights, beehives, Beatles posters and a whole lot of swinging 60's goodness. We aim to have our first showing in October and open for the Fringe show at BATS 2013 so watch this space!
Some of our our talented team includes...
- Tess Jamieson-Karaha - Director/Co-Creator. Toi Whakaari Acting Graduate 2010. Recent work includes ‘Please Help Yourself’ – self devised solo show transcripted for Radio New Zealand.
- Chantelle Brader (Rochelle's daughter)– Actor/ Co-Creator. Toi Whakaari Acting Graduate 2006 Recent work includes ‘Ensemble Impact’ directed by KC Kelly

- Lighting Engineer: TBC
- Sound Engineer TBC
Also: Kent Chadwick, a masters film student at the American University, Washington W.A, is due to arrive 30th June to start shooting a documentary on us making the show for his final masters project.
We aim to raise enough money to pay our talented NZ team $285.70 each for 3 weeks hard work to make this exciting show possible! Other funding bodies don't tend to fund wages but we need to eat to bring you some quality theatre with bite!
