Hello everyone!
We need help to raise funds for our short film MAKING STRANGE. It's been shortlisted twice by NZFC but never funded so we thought it was about time we produced it ourselves...
MAKING STRANGE is a dark comedy about a delusional man haunted by his father's ghost, made worse by his addiction to alcohol. It'll feature Mark Mitchinson and Matt Sunderland, two of New Zealand’s most celebrated actors. Both Matt and Mark have won New Zealand Best Actor awards: Matt in 2006 for his portrayal of recluse David Gray in Out of the Blue; and Mark in 2011 for his portrayal of psychiatrist Dr Colin Bouer in Bloodlines, and again in 2012 for his role as Jan Molenaar, the fanatic gunman in Siege.
MAKING STRANGE is written and directed by Peter Takapuna, who was the first student to attend both the New Zealand Drama School and New Zealand School of Dance, graduating from neither. Still as a professional dancer, Peter has toured internationally performing for over 25 years; and worked regularly in production across theatre, film, television and documentary. This will be Peter Takapuna's debut film as a writer and film director. Peter will receive mentoring from award winning writer/director Gregory King (Christmas, A Song of Good).
MAKING STRANGE is an independent film co-produced by Pure Productions and Blanket and Musket Productions. The partnership brings together the multi-talented skills of Cinematographer, Executive Producer and Post Production facilitator Jamie Mckenzie from Pure Productions. Matched with the experience of Executive Producer, Filmmaker, Production Manager, Marketing and Sales advisor, Hiona Henare from Blanket & Musket.
Currently our bank balance is $0 but we need to get it up to $5000!
With your help we'll fly Matt home from Sydney to film, give koha to our crew, have funds to hire additional camera equipment and crane, buy plenty of petrol vouchers and food for 3 days, koha for location, money for promotion, festival submission fees, a kick-ass editor, special fx, titles, flame artist, music, props, wardrobe, contingency - the whole shebang!
We can't do it without your help so please pledge whatever you can spare. Or think big, and go for the Associate and Executive Producer packages and receive extra extra special benefits..
