The Community Mill Wairarapa
Project 2018-01-03 20:20:03 +1300
The project is to establish a community grain mill run at the local Farmers Markets in the Wairarapa.
People can purchase through a dedicated stall freshly milled grains such as corn.
The mill will be a healthy and organic alternative to help locals make breads. Currently all local grain and flour is imported and if the supply chain is disrupted poses a risk to the local economy. The aim is to build a resilient community.
The mill will be community owned and operated - profits will be reinvested into the project to help operate and maintain the mill, develop a product range and promote the sale of grains for locals to use in baking.
