About

The Woman In Black: Bringing The Famous Ghost Play To Christchurch

Project 2017-11-21 12:30:44 +1300

NO Productions Theatre has another supernatural treat in store for Christchurch audiences! Absorbing and sinister, The Woman in Black has been captivating the audiences all around the world for many years... and the Gloucester Room at Isaac Theatre Royal is a perfect venue for staging this eerie ghost story!
The classic Gothic play The Woman in Black by Stephen Mallatratt and Susan Hill is a masterpiece of modern drama. This project is a unique chance to stage this play in Christchurch. The licencing rights to produce The Woman in Black have been withdrawn in many countries, but with the help of the New Zealand Play Bureau, NO Productions Theatre was granted permission to perform it at the Gloucester Room of Isaac Theatre Royal 29 March – 1 April 2018 (the Easter Weekend 2018).
This project builds upon the experience and success of our previous Gothic projects since 2013, especially the acclaimed stage ghost story Turn of the Screw performed in 2016 at Isaac Theatre Royal and Oamaru Opera House to full houses and rave reviews.
Created by the same team who brought you Turn of the Screw, the show will be directed by the company’s founder Nataliya Oryshchuk, with two leading roles performed by the company’s core members David Allen and Michael Adams. The stage set will be created by Julian Southgate (we are very proud to have such a brilliant designer in our team!).
While we are very lucky to have received financial support from Rata Foundation, Creative Communities Christchurch and Pub Charity, we are still facing heavy productions costs in creating this complex show. Even the modest target of this campaign will significantly help our team to reach our goal in bringing this unique and much-cherished theatre production to the stage…
... And the best part: our REWARDS are an excellent way to secure your (*special priced*!) tickets to the show, booking your entertainment for the Easter Weekend 2018!
Yes, Easter 2018 does seem like a long way away but it really isn't, and all rewards are transferrable :-)
