"Twelve Heavens" is a sellection of current Maori poetry writers published in Te Reo Maori, English and Spanish by Letras Latinas Publishing House a division of the Auckland Latin American Community Incorporated, ALACINC. Illustrated by Tame Iti, "Twelve Heavens" represents the first step of our Publishing House towards the international promotion of New Zealand culture in Spanish speaking countries with the participation of 8 Maori Poets with a number of poems written in Te Reo and/or English and subsequently translated to Spanish.
Partially funded by Creative New Zealand up to $2,000 which includes translation, edition and printing; "Twelve Heavens" requires extra funding to increase the number of volumes to outreach Latin American audiences, estimated at $2,000 more.
ALACINC is a community organisation and a social services provider established in 1994 by Refugees from Latin American countries with the aim to support migrants and refugees' settlement process in New Zealand by delivering social, cultural and educational services. "Letras Latinas" Publishing House has released already two bilingual books in 2014-2015, "Tocata al Publico" and "Short Stories Competition".
"Twelve Heavens" will become our third publication and it represents the consolidation of a project that enhance culture as a vehicle of multicultural understanding. If you want to know more about this project check out the links below.
