After two years of long hours, hard work, all our personal and business funds and many, many years of dreams we opened The Toy Collector in Christchurch, NZ to the public on Feb 6th this year.  An eclectic collection of toys through the ages designed to put a smile on your face and remind you of childhood days of playing whether those days are recent or very distant.  

The Toy Collector, a labour of love of Alan Preston supported and encouraged by his partner Ruth Fisher, is a place where nostalgia is triggered regardless of age through toys and figures that can instantly take you back to a memory you didn't every realise had been created. Alan and Ruth have set out to create a space where nostalgia is around every corner and in every cabinet - whether it's an old Matchbox car, a Basil Brush toy, the Littlest Pet Shop collection or a 1950s Annual that you have fond memories of, we're hoping you'll find it.

We have been rewarded so far by fantastic comments about what we've done and the satisfaction of the reaction by all ages as they walk through the doors but there is so much more to do!

We have great plans for expansion to include cabinets for other collectors displays on a loan basis, a Lego room and a Mt Panorama slot car set to name a few but need your help to fund the fit out. We would like to open in June this year so there's lots to do.  

We plan to reward supporters with a range of passes to the display, memberships and naming rights. We hope you can be part of what we are creating - a unique toy experience.
