About

AWAKE : A Oneshot Collective Film

Project 2014-12-02 10:28:35 +1300

The Oneshot Collective is a new independent filmmaking initiative to showcase twelve filmmakers through short film segments based on a common theme of chance encounters. The finished short segments will be combined to form a single feature-length anthology piece scheduled for completion by mid-2015.www.oneshotcollective.co.nz

AWAKE : a Oneshot Collective film

SYNOPSIS: When a young couple encounter a friend sleepwalking, they take her home where a conversation about their worst nightmares has horrifying consequences.

AWAKE is a female-driven psychological horror exploring the divide between fantasy and reality along with the dangers of what we could be capable of when stuck between both worlds.

Written and Directed by award-winning filmmaker Chaz Harris (Broken Glass/101 Dates/The Shoe Box), the film is scheduled to be shot mid-January 2015.

In addition to favours and the personal funds already invested, we need to raise a remaining $1800 (after PledgeMe fees) towards essential costs to feed our cast, crew and to pay for any necessary equipment hire and materials.

CHAZ HARRIS - Writer/Director

An award-winning filmmaker and writer, Chaz originally comes from the UK where he worked for Oscar-nominated producer Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks/Shaun of the Dead/Elizabeth) and within the development team at Miramax Films. Since moving to New Zealand, he has created award-winning web series 101 Dates which won 7 Awards at the 2011 LA Web Series Festival along with the acclaimed short The Shoe Box for which he became a finalist for SPADA New Filmmaker of the Year in 2007. He is a co-founder of award-winning production company Seriously Entertainment with partners Lance Lones and Amanda Walker as well as FilmHoncho.com, a Cloud-based collaboration platform for Screenwriters. His most recent short is the family fantasy film Broken Glass which premiered on Rialto Channel on White Ribbon Day 2014.

SCOTT MILLIGAN - Editor

An award-winning editor for his work on web series 101 Dates, Scott Milligan has worked on a number of productions both on set and in post-production. After helping launch the world's first legal download-to-own Video On Demand company in Australia, Scott moved back to NZ and joined Stuff.co.nz. In 2012, he edited acclaimed family fantasy short Broken Glass directed by Chaz Harris and has worked for Propeller Productions on docos and corporate video projects. Scott now runs his own corporate video company Milligan Media with several documentary projects currently in post-production.

"Awake" - All Systems Go!

29/01/2015 at 1:35 PM

After breezing past our target amount late last week thanks to all of you wonderful people, it's all systems go for our shoot of "Awake" this weekend!

Last night we had a production meeting to go through many of the final details with wonderful discussions including recipes for fake blood. I also had fun telling the team of my adventures in costume design and the retail assistant's face when I was shopping for costumes. I told them: "I need three of each in the same size because I need to kill people...actors I mean, for a movie, in a film!".

Make sure you follow the @OneshotNZ Twitter feed and the Oneshot Collective page on Facebook for updates throughout the weekend. Other crew who Tweet will be using the #OneshotNZ hashtag on Twitter if you are so inclined as to keep an eye on those things ;)

We also spent a lot of money last night on food for the catering, but the number one rule in indie and low-budget filmmaking cannot be understated: FEED THE CREW!

Now, back to the planning and scheduling!

Over and out,

Chaz :)

95% Funded : We're Almost There!

22/01/2015 at 11:32 AM

A coffin is being built, the shot list has been prepared, the storyboards have been drafted (as posted on our main PledgeMe page), filming permits have been applied for and approved by Film Wellington and it looks like we are all on track for shooting the final weekend of January.

We've had one bump in the road so far after the owner of the camera gear we were going to use managed to lose it, so we're having to hire some gear instead. That means every cent counts, we have just $95 left to reach our target funding goal but anything we can raise over that will be very helpful too!

Thanks heaps to all who have pledged so far, we'll try and keep the updates coming as we go into production :)

Lets make a movie!

Chaz
