Education Of Ming Ming

Project 2012-04-15 23:29:36 +1200

Gymnastics, piano, drums, ballet, swimming, calligraphy, violin plus a whole lot more. Who’s got time for a childhood?

THE FILM

A true overachiever's story, 'The Education of Ming Ming' is an upcoming short film about a not so average 8 year old named Ming Ming. Born and raised in New Zealand, this little Chinese girl has a busier schedule than any working adult. The meaning of her name reflects her parents’ desire for her to have a “bright bright future”, but how much longer can she keep shining?

Written & Directed by Beyond Wen, a man with a flair for film-making and passion for this untold story about the pressures of being a Chinese child. He is joined with Producer, Alex Lee, and a very talented production crew to make his dream come alive.

THE STAR

This is Cameron. She will be the star of the film and play Ming Ming. At just 6 years old, Cameron herself is full of talent and pizzaz like her character. She's known to talk like an adult and make everyone laugh excessively!

THE PRODUCTION

Production will be in the middle of May 2012, and we need to raise AT LEAST $3,500 for it to happen. This will cover the bare minimum of expenses, such as food, transport, gear, insurance, etc. We are fortunate to have the RED EPIC camera, some beautiful locations and a bunch of talented people working for the love of it. (see below)

THE TEAM

Beyond Wen
Writer/Director
Beyond is in his final year doing a Masters in Screen Production at the University of Auckland. He's well-known at Uni for his creative artistic visions and innovative story-telling.

Alex Lee
Producer
Alex has kindly offered to produce this film in amidst his busy schedule running the Documentary Edge Festival, and we are so fortune to have him and his producerial wisdom!

Amit Tripuraneni
1st AD
Amit has written and directed his own feature films before, and was so taken with the script of Ming Ming,
that he came on board as 1st AD!

Emily Smith
Art Director
Emily is a former Fine Arts Student who has captured Beyond's vision to create a beautiful feast
for the eyes!

Lesly Li
Director of Photography
Lesly is normally a professional DOP in Malaysia, but fortunately we caught him while
he's in NZ, so he can work his magical fingers over the RED EPIC.

Léah McVeagh
Production Manager
That's me! I'm on board this project because the script is amazing, and I get to work with all
the awesome people I just mentioned!

PLUS more amazing crew who keep this ball rolling: Callum Lister, Greg Pryor, Finn McGowan, Ada Chin, Mark Lee, David Chan, Rina Patel, Sam Behrend & Peter Simpson.

We've got a great team, now all we have to do is help make Ming Ming happen through some $. Please help us out and make this dream happen!
