Cannonball Run NZ 2014 is approaching and next year's theme is Mad Max! I have a road legal Double Cab Hilux I've been working on the last year or so which is nearing completion. When I saw the theme for the run, my first thought was "Man, all it needs is a rocket launcher mounted to the roof and it'll fit right in!" 

So begins the mission of Mad Maxing the beast in preparation for this awesome event. 

List of mods looking to be achieved; 

Stage 1 (Pledging Now!); Desert-Storm style paintjob - $1500 (Major Pledges $350)

Stage 2; Mil-Spec style spotlights

Stage 3; Suspension upgrade to support the weight of the grenade launcher/air cannon mounting

Stage 4; Armor Plating/Meshing windows

Stage 5; Decommissioned Roof Mounted Grenade Launcher converted into an Air-Cannon

Stage 6; Toyota V8 (Either 1/2/3-UZ-FTE or 1vd-ftv) 

Stage 7; Smokestacks. 

Stage 8; Personalized plates

The aim is to keep the truck road-legal so it can participate in the event but at the same time push ALL the legal boundaries to the limit to achieve full baddassary potential.

The project is split into 8 milestones and funding will be stage-by-stage, The project will be considered complete after stage 5 but if pledgers wish push for stage 6-7-8 then so it shall be!

"But what do I get out of it?" you say? Well;

As the project is split into milestones, major Pledgers for each individual stage will be awarded the opportunity to have their name/company Name/Logo/picture of your cat or whatever you like (With good taste of course) stickered* on the vehicle at completion of the stage and left on for the race.

The price bracket to qualify as a "Major Pledger" will vary between stages and said prices will be released at the beginning of each stage. 

If the truck is not completed (Achieved at least stage 5) in time for the event, it will also attend Beach Hop and other similar events throughout the year, so even if it isn't finished by the time the race happens, you'll still get your name/brand/logo advertised at another event throughout the year. 

Said pledgers/prize winners will also be e-mailed pictures of the truck at said event with their logo on it as proof that your sticker really was there! Note: All pictures will be in HUGE resolution and persons/businesses receiving the photo will have permission to use said photos for whatever marketing/advertising purposes they desire** (Within good taste of course). 

At the completion of each of each stage the person/business/group with the BIGGEST pledge, will receive a deluxe version of the above mentioned package.

The BIGGEST pledger for each stage will receive a similar package to the one above, BUT will have their stickers left on the truck for BOTH the events and the entire year from the day your sticker is applied. You will also receive physical 12x8" photos AND digital copies of the truck at the above-mentioned events. But the BEST part of this deal is that you'll get a chance to have a ride in the beast*** on OR off road after completion AND get to fire the air cannon, have your picture taken in it etc! 

Truck is based in Auckland but will travel as required to said events.

If the same pledger/group/business has the biggest pledge or qualifies as a Major Pledger in multiple stages you WILL get to have more then one sticker, a sticker+space will be awarded for each round. You may also choose to combine your spaces to slap one big sticker on it.

All work/modifications will be done by NZ Owned and Operated LOCAL workshops/Individuals to support local business.

Notes;

* Size of stickers will be subject to popularity/outcome of stages/space on the truck etc

** Must be agreed on by owner of the photo (Which will be myself, so just bring me a box and the outcome will probably be in your favor)

*** Rides will be subject to my availability and will be arranged post-completion of stage 5 of the project 

Any person/s/businesses and so on who would like to donate parts/labor etc will get a permanent brand sticker on the rear window! (Of course after the mentioned events the truck will continue doing rounds at other events year round!). Donations/sponsors are welcome, feel free to leave a comment with contact details.
