The Ballad Of The Great NZ Trek
Project 2013-09-30 03:46:29 +1300
Adventure. Drama. Romance. Tragedy. Comedy. Poetry. An Epic.
My name is Trisha Fisk, I am an artist living at Whangarei Heads. Over the last eight years I have been involved with the Great New Zealand Trek which is ride a horse, bike or walk from the North Cape to Bluff, a bit each year, all in aid of research into Multiple Sclerosis.
There have been huge adventures, laughs, and dramas on the journey as well as heartwarming stories from MS sufferers, and researchers about how the Trek is helping. For one of the trek "talent quest" nights, I wrote a ballad about goings on during the event, and this has grown into a truly epic tale over the eight years it has taken to complete the North Island.
As a result of interest from fellow trekkers, I plan to publish The Ballad as a fund raiser for MS and am looking for help with initial printing costs. The book is a mix of photos of our stunning country and ballad text with cartoon images dropped into them to illustrate the crazy goings on.Its a fun story with real people and its all true. Well most of it. Help get it to print.
Working in association with The Great New Zealand Trek Charitable Trust.

Many thanks to all you pledgers. Awesome effort, and you make me and the Great NZ Trek proud.
However we needed to reach $3000 to cover an initial print run of 200 books. The interest from trekkers was way down on what had been indicated on the last stage when a forest of hands went up. Perhaps the computer/Pledgeme thing was too tricky for ancient trekkers.
But the book is good. We still want to make it happen. And we are sure once trekkers see it they will want one.
It was an epic journey and has made an epic tale. Will just have to reconsider our options for funding it.
But thanks again for your support.
All the best
