We're producing a short film for my final film assignment with SAE Institute. Although this is a student assignment we are aiming to make it to a high enough standard for submission to national and international film festivals, and will be receiving some mentoring from a well known New Zealand director.
Any help/sponsoring is welcome - we are starting to film from 22nd July and ending 12th August.
My team crew is a mix of SAE current students, ex-SAE students plus some people from 'Film Production Group NZ'.
Crew:
Director & Producer: Alex Arruda
Producer & AD: Aidan Dickens
Cameramen: Jeremy Privalong & David Peterson
Camera Assistant/Gaffer/Slate: Luan Cordeiro
Art Depart: Alex Arruda, Kim Gillis & Aidan Dickens
Make up: Donna Rae & Annalise Neves-Taylor
Production Assistant/Wardrobe: Helen & Kim Gillis
Sound: Michael Nicholas & Flex Webster
Cast:
Kath - Alice Pearce
Bill - Lee Ah Yen Faatoia
Nikki - Tina Pan
Louise (Kath's Mum) - Stephanie Liebert
Mr. Shummaker - Michael Nicholas
The Cop - Andrew Sayer
Because we have 18 scenes for this 15min short movie the budget as we got different locations is $750.
The synopsis
Kath is trying to recover from a breakup. Her teacher gives her a book to help her get over it. She soon discovers that the events and characters in the book mimic what's happening to her when she meets a charming, mysterious man who sweeps her off her feet. This is a fresh take on the 'fiction coming to life' idea, along the same lines as "Stranger than Fiction" and "Ruby Sparks".

Hi All,
We have done the spa pool scene last Friday where Kath is talking to her best friend Nikki about The Book and how weird her life is at the moment: its so similar to what happens in the book...We have shot at night and the composition and frame looks awesome, we still have 17 scenes to go but the first start was great! :) Exciting!!
