Hello! My name is Roberto Nascimento and I am actor and producer based in Auckland. It is always exciting to collaborate with a team of like minded people with the goal of bringing an awesome original story to life. Over the past year, I have worked with screenwriter Louis Mendiola and director Cristobal Araus Lobos. We have collaborated on these five projects: Our new project is a short film titled PAUSE. It is a dark comedic revenge tale in the style of Pedro Almodovar and Tim Burton’s films. It follows an unconventional couple on a romantic dinner date: Antonio, an advertising executive, and his wife Mary, a nurse. They are dining at a wonderful restaurant, and we soon discover that Antonio and Mary have differing plans for the night. What will follow will be a series of events that will change the way we perceive relationships and power play. The film is also about an outsider standing up against insecurity and having the balls to take charge of his/her life. And without any regrets. I will be playing the role of Antonio. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with the best of NZ theatre and film industry for the past 5 years. In that period I produced and acted in more than 20 plays and 10 short films and currently have a web series in final stages of post production, to be released later this year. Mary will be played by Yvette Parsons. Yvette has been working as an actor, producer and writer for the past 20 years. Her solo show “Silent Night” has toured around NZ and received critical and audience praise. She was nominated for a Chappman Tripp Award for that role. Recent TV roles include “SuperCity” and “Shortland St”. I believe in this short film 1000%. I believe this short will open the doors to future projects we have prepared, including a feature film. Our focus is to create projects that live ‘outside the box’, projects that make people think and laugh. I believe “Pause” is a film that will be re-watched over and over. Since film is a collaborative art, I hope you will make a pledge. Be it large or small, anything you can contribute will help fund our project, pay our crew and actors and also give us cash to submit it to future festivals.
