Red Alert - Short Film

Several years ago, way back in the dark ages of 2005, my father and I gathered a merry bunch of players to act in a short film - Red Alert. Sadly our funds ran out and shortly after my dad’s health started going really downhill, so we were not able to complete it.
Two years later in 2007 we were able to shoot the final scene, but due to lack of funds we were unable to find an editor. Sadly, my fathers’ health went even further downhill, and two years ago he passed away. All throughout that time we never stopped believing that we would be able to get the film completed.
I am looking for the funding to complete the editing of the movie and to add a basic musical score to it as well. I am doing this now so that my dad can finally rest in peace, as I know he never will until the film is completed. I want it completed so that we can hopefully screen it in time for the two year anniversary of his passing.
The basic narrative of the short is that there is a serial killer prowling the streets of Auckland and ending the lives of red haired women. The police are tracking him down, but will they catch him before he kills again? It is told from the POV of both the lead detective on the case as well as someone who may or may not be the killer. On an allegorical level the film is about the repression/killing of feminine energy in today’s patriarchal society.
We envisage that the short will be about 12 minutes in length.
Starring Mark Webley, Jason Greenwood, Melanie Rosen and Vikki Cottingham.
